spyropoulouSophia Spyropoulou was born in Patras, Greece in 1985. She is a graduate of the Department of English Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philosophy at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (September 2003 - July 2007).

She has completed a Postgraduate Programme (Master in Audiovisual Translation) at the University of Surrey, UK (17 September 2007 – 10 September 2008)

She has done different kinds of audiovisual translation (comedies, crime stories, documentaries) as well as written material from English to Greek and vice versa.

She has specialized on subtitling programs for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Audience.

She has worked as a teacher at the Technological Educational Institute of Messolonghi at the Department of Automation from October 2010 to July 2011 in laboratory and theoretical classes.

She collaborates as a translator for the electronic magazine “The Art of Crime” published by the Laboratory of Penal and Criminological Researches of Kapodistrian University of Athens www.theartofcrime.gr.

Finally, since 2004 she has been a member of TESOL Greece organization – an organization that deals with different ways of teaching the English language.
